Congratulations to our SAS Winners!

The 2010 SAS Winners:
L-R: Thomas Cleland, ICC; Ashley Pulver, ICC; Club President, Maria Lull; Abriel Berninger, CCS; Maxwell Streeter, CCS; Molly Risko, NL; and SAS Chair, Carol Simmons.

The Northern Columbia County Rotary Club awards a Service Above Self Scholarship (SAS) every year to two seniors from each of the three school districts in our area (Chatham, Ichabod and New Lebanon).

The scholarship is given to students who have been performing beneficial community service work in their communities and plan on continuing this type of work. Candidates submit an essay of about 100 words describing what "Service Above Self" means to them.

Candidates are interviewed and chosen based on their community service and being a well-rounded student, not necessarily on grades. The amount of the award is $400 and can be used any way the winners see fit - books, transportation, college credits, etc.
